Care & Returns
Before You Install
Your strap should slide between the lugs with minimal friction for a snug fit. If you have to bend or deform the leather to get it in, it's the wrong size — don't force it. Email us at support@threadedleather.com with your watch model and we'll get the right size sent out.
Need to return or exchange?
100% satisfaction guarantee on every order — custom or not.
Please keep the strap in the same condition you received it — that's what allows us to keep this policy as generous as it is.
Leather Care
Caring for Your Strap
Real leather is meant to age and tell a story. Over time, your strap will develop patina, subtle markings, and a finish unique to you. That's not wear — it's character.
Water. No leather is designed for regular water exposure. If your strap gets wet, pat it dry with a soft cloth and let it air dry at room temperature. Avoid direct heat — radiators, hair dryers, and dashboard sun will dry the leather out.
Scratches. Most of our leathers are pull-up or oil-tanned, meaning scratches can be buffed out with your thumb or a soft cloth. The natural oils in your skin blend the scratch into the surrounding leather.
Conditioning. For most of our leathers, conditioning is optional — they're heavily oiled from the tannery and do fine on their own. A light leather conditioner can be applied occasionally if the leather ever feels dry, though it may slightly deepen the color. Less is more — overconditioning is the most common mistake.
Avoid harsh chemicals, alcohol-based cleaners, and prolonged direct sunlight.
Is This Normal?
Color Variation
Every hide is different. Two straps in the same leather and colorway may vary slightly in tone, texture, or grain pattern. That's the nature of full-grain leather — and part of what makes each strap unique.
Patina & Darkening
Your strap will change color over time. Oils from your skin, exposure to light, and daily wear will deepen and enrich the tone. Many customers tell us their strap looks better after a year of daily wear than the day they bought it.
Pull-Up Lightening
If you bend your strap and the color lightens at the crease, that's the pull-up effect — oils and waxes temporarily displacing in the leather. It's a sign of authenticity. The color returns as the oils resettle.
Minor Loose Fibers on the Edge
A few small fibers along the cut edges are normal with full-grain leather and settle down quickly as the edges smooth with wear.
