Horween Chromexcel Watch Straps

Chromexcel is Horween's most iconic leather — and for good reason. Created through a proprietary 89-step process that combines chrome tanning, vegetable re-tanning, and hot stuffing with a blend of natural oils and greases, Chromexcel has a depth and richness that few leathers can match.

What sets Chromexcel apart is its pull-up character. When you bend or press the leather, oils migrate to create lighter areas that contrast with the surrounding color. Over time, this creates a patina that's completely unique to how you wear your strap. A Chromexcel strap worn daily for six months looks dramatically different than one that's new — and most people prefer the worn-in version.

We source our Chromexcel directly from Horween in Chicago and cut each strap by hand in our workshop. Every strap is hand-stitched with waxed thread and fitted with solid hardware in your choice of finish — each option chosen to develop its own character alongside the leather. The result is a watch strap that looks better the longer you wear it.

Chromexcel is available in several colors including Natural, Black, Color #8 (burgundy), and Whiskey Cavalier Chromexcel. Each color develops patina differently — Natural shows the most dramatic aging, while Black offers subtle tonal shifts over time.
