Product & Options

What leather do you use?

We source premium leather from some of the world's most respected tanneries — Horween Leather Company in Chicago, Conceria Walpier and Badalassi Carlo in Italy, and Tanneries Haas in France. Each tannery produces leather with unique character, grain, and aging properties.

How do I find my lug width?

The lug width is the distance between the two posts where the strap connects to your watch case. You can measure it with a ruler, check your watch manufacturer's specs. Lug Width Guide

How do I find my wrist size?

Wrap a flexible measuring tape or strip of paper around your wrist where you normally wear your watch. Check our sizing guide for help matching your measurement to the right strap length.

What are my customization options?

We offer a wide range of options on our custom straps including leather type, thread color, buckle finish, edge finish, strap widths from 18–24mm (including tapered sizes), quick release spring bars, and strap length to fit your wrist. Browse our customizable styles here.

What does "tapered" mean?

Tapered means the strap gets narrower toward the buckle. For example, a 20/18mm strap fits a 20mm lug width and narrows to 18mm at the buckle for a more refined look and comfortable fit. You can choose tapered sizes on our customizable products.

Do your straps come with spring bars?

We recommend using the spring bars that came with your watch — they're made specifically for your lugs and provide the best fit. If you need a pair, you can add standard spring bars (1.8mm) for free or upgrade to quick release spring bars for $5.

Can I convert a strap to quick release?

Yes, just select the quick release spring bar option on the product page. We'll install them before shipping for $5.

Can I convert any style to fit my Apple Watch?

Yes — any of our strap styles can be converted to fit your Apple Watch. The conversion requires custom hardware and additional labor, so we charge $15 for the service. Email support@threadedleather.com with your preferred strap and Apple Watch size and we'll send you a custom invoice.

Will my strap fit my Apple Watch / Garmin / Samsung?

Our standard straps fit any traditional watch with spring bar lugs. For Apple Watch, we offer dedicated Apple Watch straps with built-in adapters. For Garmin, Samsung, and other proprietary systems, email us at support@threadedleather.com with your watch model and we'll let you know your options.

How do I care for my leather strap?

Real leather is meant to age and tell a story. Over time, your strap will develop patina, subtle markings, and a finish unique to you. While durable, no leather is designed for regular water exposure — if your strap gets wet, just let it air dry at room temperature. A light leather balm or conditioner can be applied occasionally, though it may slightly deepen the color. Avoid harsh chemicals.

How long will my leather strap last?

With proper care, our straps last for years. The premium leathers we use are designed to age beautifully — they soften, develop patina, and look better over time. Many customers tell us their strap looks better after a year of daily wear than the day they bought it.

Returns & Exchanges

Can I return or exchange my strap?

Absolutely. We offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee — if you're not happy for any reason, visit our returns page to get started. For U.S. orders, we cover the full cost of your return label. For international orders, we cover 50% of the return shipping cost. We just ask that you keep the strap in the same condition you received it so we can continue offering this policy to everyone.

What if my strap has a defect?

If you notice any manufacturing defect — stitching, hardware, leather quality — reach out to support@threadedleather.com immediately and we'll replace it, no questions asked.

My strap doesn't fit my watch lugs — what should I do?

Don't force it. If the strap isn't sliding smoothly between your lugs, it's likely the wrong width for your watch. Email us at support@threadedleather.com with your watch model and we'll get the right size sent out.
